Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of Delta Central, has won the seat of the 9th deputy Senate President.

Omo-Agege polled 67 votes to win fellow rival, Senator Ike Ekweremadu who polled 37 votes.

Sentor Ekweremadu is the immediate past Deputy Senate President and was surprisingly nominated by Chukwuka Utazi representing Enugu North Senatorial district.

Omo-Agege is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while Ekweremadu belongs to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

Omo-Agege was adopted by the APC and President Muhammadu Buhari following his victory
