Naira Marley granted bail in the sum of 2 million Naira

Artiste, Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, was granted bail Thursday, May 30, 2019, in the sum of N2,000,000.00( Two Million Naira).

Justice Nicholas I. Oweibo of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, granted the bail.

The rapper was on May 20, 2019 arrested the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on an 11-count charge bordering on cyber crime.

The counts reads:

“That you, Azeez Adeshina Fashola, aka Naira Marley, and Yad Isril (still at large), on or about the 26th day of November, 2018, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, conspired amongst yourself to use Access card no : 5264711020433662 issued to persons other than you in a bid to obtain gain and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 27(1) (b) of the Cybercrime Prohibition, Prevention etc Act 2015 and punishable under Section 33(2) of the same Act.”

In his ruling, Justice Nicholas Oweibo granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2, 000,000.00(Two Million Naira) with two sureties in like sum.

In the request, one of the sureties must be a civil servant on Grade Level 10, and other should own a landed property within the court’s jurisdiction.

Furthermore, the Judge demanded the status of each of the sureties be critically verified by the EFCC.

Finally, the trial will commence on October 22, 23 and 24, 2019
