On September 9, 2007, the late Tella led a team of youngsters to win the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Although, he was eligible chose Nigeria over his current birth country Austria, Alaba decided to abandon Nigeria after the bibrery incident. The black-skined left back has a Filipino mother and Nigerian father, but was born in Vienna.

He has since rose to the highest in this playing position, with his name amongst one of the worlds all time best left backs.
