Dembele has reportedly prompted concern from club staff over his lifestyle, diet and time-keeping.

Earlier this year Gerard Pique joked that Dembele is “always late” having been reported to turn up to training late on several occasions.

He is now In an all new saga as the latest incident concerning his conduct came when Dembele took over an hour to inform the club of the reason for his absence in training on Thursday.

The 21-year-old eventually told the club he was ill with gastroenteritis and he also missed training on Friday before returning for individual sessions on Saturday, missing the following day’s defeat to Real Betis.

Dembele’s apparent indiscipline off the field has seen the £135.5million attacker again linked with a move to Liverpool after speculation over an Anfield move in the summer.

A club-record £85million fee was mooted for the highly-rated former Borussia Dortmund youngster.

Although Liverpool have sought to quash any links, they were in for Dembele before he joined Dortmund and Jurgen Klopp is an admirer of his, joking in May when asked about a possible move: “Is he on the market? Now I’m interested!”

The more it goes public - the more the price tag goes down
BBC pundit Craig Burley believes that the more the France international poor attitude and lack of hunger to play goes public, the more he's price tag drops down.

He said : “I don’t know if making it public is a good thing,” Burley said.

“If you think you can solve the issue then fine. But didn’t he have issues at Borussia Dortmund as a youngster?

“He’s clearly having his issues at the Nou Camp with his attitude and all that stuff.

“Didier Deschamps has touched upon it when he’s been with the French squad.

“It’s nothing to do with a manager’s disrespect to one guy - it’s travelling with him wherever he goes.

“Now if you’re making this public all the time and continually putting it out there to try and embarrass the lad or change his attitude, you’ve got a price tag to try and drive up anyway. A massive price tag.

“It has already been touted around because of his attitude maybe Barca will try and get rid of him.

“But the more the attitude stinks and the more it goes public - the more the price tag goes down. So it’s a problem for everybody.”
